서강대학교 사학과를 졸업하고 같은 대학원 사학과 석사학위, 박사학위를 취득했다. 미국 캘리포니아 주립 대학교U.C.L.A. 한국학연구소 객원연구원을 지냈으며 현재 세종대학교 역사학과 겸임교수로, 조선시대 정치·경제사를 중심으로, 사학사와 인물연구를 하고 있다.

이 책은 다년간 영어를 접하면서도 그것을 제대로 활용하지 못했던 억울함과, 저자들이 해와유학과 호텔현장,그리고 여행사 가이드와 T/C,항공사에 근무하면서 후학들이 반드시 숙지 했으면 하는 것들만 모아서 Kevin교수의 철저한 감수를 통하여 실용적인 목적에 바탕을 두고 구성하였다.
